Page Notes: I'll be spending a bit of time on the Dystopia Discord in the coming weeks adding a bit of detail to the process that Marc and I use to construct the pages. But for today, let's talk about the introduction of those armor clad fellows that are aligned on the wall - I don't believe that Marc has identified them just yet so I'll refer to them as TP, but the creation of the visuals for these gents (as with other aspects of the story) is one of the more enjoyable aspects of the creative process for me.
Our esteemed author has had many of these characters & locations rambling around in his head for some time, and has thought about the various aspects concerning the details of individual characters, environment, and architecture. Marc utilizes a "full script" writing style as opposed to what has come to be referred to as the "Marvel Method". When I review the script, Marc has laid out the pages, action that they've envisioned, and dialogue. What hasn't been identified is left open for interpretation and further discussion.
As we discuss the script, there's a collaborative dance in which we share thoughts, sketches, and critiques to get to a solution that eventually makes it way to the initial "thumbnail" sketch for the page. As a result, page layouts may change, dialogue may be tailored, actions may be adjusted, and characters and environment take shape. The end result is something that I am sure is familiar yet different from our scripter's perspective. Anyways, I look forward to you learning more about the TP and The Rim as we continue the first chapter.
